Mobile Roadside Forced DPF Regeneration & Diesel Diagnostics

Mobile DPF Regen Service for Heavy-Duty Diesel Trucks

DPF light on? Truck derated? Regen won't start? Check engine light keeping you off the road?

Danny’s Mobile Emissions provides professional mobile roadside forced DPF regeneration and diesel aftertreatment diagnostics for heavy-duty trucks.

We come directly to your:

  • Truck

  • Yard

  • Repair shop

  • Fleet terminal

  • Parking location

  • Job site

  • Roadside location

Instead of immediately forcing a regeneration, we diagnose the truck first to determine why the DPF warning or derate occurred and whether a forced regeneration is appropriate.

Mobile Diesel Diagnostics + Forced DPF Regen

Call Danny’s Mobile Emissions for mobile service.

Don't Tow Your Truck to the Dealer Just for a DPF Regen

A clogged diesel particulate filter can cause:

  • DPF warning lights

  • Check engine lights

  • Reduced engine power

  • Engine derates

  • Frequent regeneration requests

  • Failed automatic regens

  • High soot loading

  • Poor fuel economy

  • Loss of performance

  • Truck unable to complete a parked regen

In many cases, the truck does not need to be immediately towed to a dealership.

Our mobile technician can connect professional heavy-duty diagnostic equipment directly to the truck, inspect the engine and aftertreatment system, determine whether a forced regeneration is appropriate and perform the regeneration at your location when conditions permit.

We Diagnose Before We Regen

A forced DPF regeneration should not simply be performed every time a DPF light appears.

There may be another problem preventing the truck from regenerating normally.

Before attempting a forced regen, we can inspect available diagnostic information including:

  • Active fault codes

  • Inactive fault codes

  • SPN/FMI diagnostic codes

  • DPF soot loading

  • DPF ash information where available

  • DPF differential pressure

  • Exhaust gas temperatures

  • Aftertreatment temperatures

  • DEF/SCR faults

  • EGR-related faults

  • Engine operating temperature

  • Turbo/boost information

  • Battery voltage

  • Engine operating data

  • Aftertreatment system status

  • Regen-related faults

  • Derate conditions

This helps determine whether the truck has a DPF loading problem or another underlying emissions-system failure.

Mobile Forced DPF Regeneration

When the truck's condition and engine control system permit regeneration, we can initiate a stationary forced DPF regeneration using professional heavy-duty diagnostic equipment.

During the regen, we monitor the system rather than simply starting the procedure and walking away.

Depending on the engine, we can monitor information such as:

  • DPF inlet temperature

  • DPF outlet temperature

  • Exhaust temperature

  • DPF differential pressure

  • Soot load

  • Engine RPM

  • Coolant temperature

  • Aftertreatment status

  • Active fault codes

  • Regeneration progress

After the regeneration is completed, we perform a post-regen diagnostic check to determine whether the regeneration was successful and whether additional service is recommended.

Trucks We Commonly Service

Our engine coverage allows us to service many heavy-duty trucks from manufacturers including:

  • Freightliner

  • Western Star

  • Peterbilt

  • Kenworth

  • Volvo

  • Mack

  • International

  • Certain medium-duty trucks equipped with supported Cummins engines

Compatibility ultimately depends on the engine, model year and vehicle configuration.

Have your VIN, truck year, make, model and engine available when calling whenever possible.

DPF Light On?

A DPF warning does not automatically mean the DPF needs to be replaced.

The problem could be related to:

  • Excessive soot accumulation

  • Failed automatic regenerations

  • Excessive engine idling

  • Short operating cycles

  • DPF differential-pressure problems

  • Exhaust temperature sensor faults

  • EGR system problems

  • Fuel-system problems

  • Turbo/boost problems

  • DEF system faults

  • SCR faults

  • NOx sensor faults

  • Aftertreatment sensor problems

  • Engine-related fault codes

Our first objective is to determine why the truck is requesting regeneration.

Truck Won't Perform a Parked Regen?

If you have already tried using the truck's parked regen switch and nothing happens, the engine computer may be preventing regeneration because certain conditions have not been met.

Possible causes can include:

  • Active engine fault

  • Active aftertreatment fault

  • Incorrect engine temperature

  • DPF soot condition

  • DEF/SCR fault

  • Sensor failure

  • Regen inhibit condition

  • Engine operating condition

  • Other ECM-controlled safety conditions

Our diagnostic equipment allows us to investigate the reason before determining the next step.

Truck in Derate?

DPF, DEF and SCR problems can eventually cause reduced engine power or severe vehicle-speed derates.

We provide mobile derate diagnostics to identify the faults responsible for the derate.

Depending on the engine and vehicle, available procedures may include:

  • Fault reset

  • Aftertreatment reset

  • DPF regeneration

  • SCR regeneration

  • DEF derate reset

  • EGR derate reset

  • Soot-level reset

  • SCR evaluation

  • Aftertreatment maintenance procedures

A derate reset is not a substitute for repairing the underlying problem.

Where a reset is available, the fault causing the derate must first be properly addressed and the ECM must permit the applicable procedure.

DPF Differential Pressure Testing

One of the important pieces of information during DPF diagnosis is DPF differential pressure.

A heavily restricted filter can create abnormal exhaust backpressure.

We evaluate available differential-pressure information along with:

  • Soot loading

  • Engine RPM

  • Exhaust temperatures

  • Fault codes

  • Regen performance

This helps us determine whether the problem may be corrected by regeneration or whether the DPF requires further inspection, professional cleaning or replacement.

DPF Soot vs. DPF Ash

Not every restricted DPF can be fixed with regeneration.

Soot

Soot is produced during diesel combustion.

A successful regeneration raises exhaust temperature enough for the aftertreatment system to remove accumulated soot.

Ash

Ash is non-combustible material that gradually accumulates inside the DPF.

A forced regeneration does not remove accumulated ash.

If ash loading or physical DPF restriction is the problem, the filter may require professional removal and cleaning or replacement.

Our diagnostic process helps identify situations where continually attempting regens is unlikely to solve the problem.

DEF & SCR Diagnostics

Modern diesel emissions systems involve considerably more than the DPF.

We can also diagnose many problems involving the:

  • DEF system

  • SCR system

  • NOx-related faults

  • Aftertreatment control system

  • Exhaust temperature system

  • EGR system

Depending on engine support, additional procedures may include:

  • SCR performance testing

  • Forced SCR regeneration

  • SCR system evaluation

  • SCR/DEF purge

  • DEF crystal sublimation

  • SCR-related reset procedures

This is especially useful when a truck has a DPF or derate warning but the actual underlying problem is within the DEF/SCR system.

Aftertreatment System Diagnostics

We specialize in diesel emissions and aftertreatment systems.

Instead of treating every problem as a clogged DPF, we look at the complete system:

ENGINE → EGR → DOC → DPF → DEF → SCR → NOx CONTROL

A failure elsewhere in this chain can cause repeated DPF problems.

That is why proper diagnostics are important before repeatedly forcing regenerations.

What Happens During Our Roadside DPF Service?

1. Connect Diagnostic Equipment

We connect directly to the truck's diagnostic system.

2. Scan the Truck

We retrieve available active and inactive engine and aftertreatment fault codes.

3. Check DPF & Aftertreatment Data

We review available soot load, differential pressure, exhaust temperatures and other relevant data.

4. Determine Whether a Regen Is Appropriate

If another fault needs to be addressed first, we explain what we found.

5. Initiate Forced DPF Regeneration

If the vehicle permits it, we initiate the stationary regeneration.

6. Monitor the Regen

We monitor engine and aftertreatment data throughout the procedure.

7. Post-Regen Scan

Once complete, we rescan the truck and review the condition of the aftertreatment system.

8. Explain the Results

We tell you whether:

  • The regen was successful

  • Additional diagnostics are required

  • A sensor or component requires attention

  • The DPF may require professional cleaning

  • The DPF may require replacement

  • A DEF/SCR problem needs further repair
